About the role

Orbit Labs is building a data pipeline and analytics enablement platform for operations teams. We need an Android Developer to create mobile tools that surface real‑time insights and allow field users to interact with data streams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Android UI components that visualize pipeline metrics
• Integrate with RESTful and gRPC services delivering analytics data
• Optimize app performance for low‑bandwidth environments
• Collaborate with data engineers to define data contracts and error handling
• Write unit and UI tests to ensure reliability across Android versions

Must-have skills

• Strong Kotlin and Java proficiency
• Experience building Android apps with MVVM or Clean Architecture
• Familiarity with networking libraries (Retrofit, OkHttp)
• Understanding of data serialization (JSON, Protobuf)
• Ability to work independently in a remote, part‑time setting

Nice to have

• Exposure to data pipelines (Kafka, Flink) and analytics dashboards
• Knowledge of Jetpack Compose
• Experience with CI/CD for mobile apps
