Database Administrator – Secure Data Modeling

About the role

Orbit Labs is launching a greenfield SaaS product with a remote‑first team. We need a Database Administrator to design, implement, and tune the data layer that will power our initial release.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy PostgreSQL clusters for high availability
• Design schema migrations and version control for MongoDB and MySQL
• Implement automated backup, restore, and monitoring pipelines
• Collaborate with developers to optimize query performance and data models
• Establish security best practices, including role‑based access and encryption

Must-have skills

• 3+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production
• Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
• Strong SQL tuning and indexing expertise
• Experience with CI/CD integration for database changes

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud managed databases (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos)
• Knowledge of containerized database deployments
• Exposure to data warehousing concepts
