About the role

Northbay Systems is preparing a major product launch and needs a Database Administrator to lead a test automation uplift. You will design and implement automated regression checks that safeguard database integrity and performance before release.

Key responsibilities

• Build CI‑integrated test suites for schema changes, data migrations, and query performance.
• Automate backup‑restore validation and failover drills across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL environments.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps to embed database tests into the release pipeline.
• Monitor test results, troubleshoot failures, and recommend preventive measures.
• Document test frameworks, runbooks, and best‑practice guidelines.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production.
• Proficiency with test automation tools (e.g., pytest, dbt, Jenkins).
• Strong scripting abilities in Python or Bash.
• Experience designing reliable regression suites for database changes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of data masking and GDPR compliance testing.
