About the role

Northbay Systems is launching a new product line and needs a Java Developer to lead a test automation uplift. The goal is to shrink regression risk before each release by building robust, maintainable test suites that integrate with the CI pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement automated UI and API tests using Java and Selenium.
• Refactor legacy test scripts into modular, reusable components.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps to embed tests into the build process.
• Monitor test coverage and report gaps to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices for test design.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years Java development experience.
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot and building microservice‑based applications.
• Proven track record in test automation frameworks (Selenium, RestAssured, JUnit).
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of performance testing tools.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) for test environments.
• Background in behavior‑driven development (Cucumber).
