About the role

Northbay Systems is launching a security hardening initiative for its cloud‑hosted applications. We need a seasoned Java Developer to design, implement, and validate security controls across microservice components. You will work closely with our DevSecOps team to ensure compliance and resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Audit existing Java services for security gaps and propose mitigations
• Integrate authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms using Spring Security
• Refactor code to follow secure coding standards and OWASP guidelines
• Write automated tests that verify security controls in CI pipelines
• Document findings and provide recommendations for future hardening efforts

Must-have skills

• 5+ years of Java development experience
• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and microservice architectures
• Hands‑on experience with security frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, TLS)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization
• Proven ability to write clean, testable code

Nice to have

• Experience with automated security scanning tools
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
• Previous work on compliance frameworks (PCI‑DSS, SOC2)
