Senior MongoDB Specialist Needed for Automated Query Plan Overhaul

About the role

Summit Digital is launching a greenfield SaaS product and needs a MongoDB Specialist to design the data layer from scratch. You will work with a remote‑first team to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliable data pipelines for the new platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement MongoDB schemas tailored to SaaS workloads
• Set up sharding, indexing, and replication strategies for global availability
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate MongoDB with Node.js services
• Establish monitoring, backup, and disaster‑recovery processes
• Write documentation and best‑practice guides for the team

Must-have skills

• 5+ years of hands‑on MongoDB design and administration
• Deep understanding of aggregation pipelines, transactions, and performance tuning
• Experience deploying MongoDB in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Proficiency with JavaScript/Node.js ecosystem
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes for containerized databases
• Experience with data migration tools and ETL processes
• Knowledge of security best practices for data at rest and in transit
