Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Process and verify financial transactions, such as invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and investigate any discrepancies or errors.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including preparing financial reports and statements.
- Develop and implement effective filing systems, both physical and digital, to ensure easy access to financial documents and records.
- Collaborate with senior accountants to prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, including tax laws and financial reporting requirements.
- Provide support to the accounting team during audits and financial reviews.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, including responding to inquiries and providing financial information.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in financial regulations, laws, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our accounting processes and procedures.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new accounting systems and procedures.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to management and other stakeholders.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to improve skills and knowledge.
- Perform other accounting and bookkeeping tasks as required.
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a similar industry or role.
- Proficient in financial software, including QuickBooks, Xero, or similar systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of self-motivation and discipline.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and laws, including tax laws and financial reporting requirements.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles, including financial statements and budgeting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
