Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, scalability, and security
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize database queries, troubleshoot issues, and implement new features
  • Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Implement database security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches
  • Optimize database performance by analyzing query execution plans, indexing, and caching
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, entity-relationship diagrams, and database design documents
  • Collaborate with the development team to design and implement new database features and functionality
  • Troubleshoot database issues and perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate database tasks, such as backups, indexing, and data imports
  • Participate in the development of database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest PostgreSQL features, best practices, and industry trends
  • Collaborate with the QA team to develop and implement database testing and validation procedures

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL Administrator or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration, including database design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Experience with database performance optimization, security, and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of database concepts, including data modeling, normalization, and denormalization
  • Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, including pg_dump and pg_restore
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database query optimization techniques
  • Experience with database security measures, including authentication, authorization, and encryption
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools, such as pg_stat_statements and pg_top
