About the role

We are modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. The Database Administrator will design, implement, and validate zero‑downtime migration strategies while ensuring data integrity and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current schema, indexing, and replication setups across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.
• Plan and execute phased data migration with live traffic handling.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and automated failover mechanisms.
• Collaborate with developers to refactor queries for the new architecture.
• Document procedures and provide knowledge transfer to the ops team.

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL administration.
• Proven experience with zero‑downtime migrations on production systems.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation.
• Understanding of replication, sharding, and backup strategies.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB).
• Experience with containerized database deployments.
