About the role
Orbit Labs is launching a high‑velocity CI/CD and platform automation sprint to accelerate release cycles. As a Microservices Architect you will design the backbone for the new "Orbit Nexus" module, ensuring seamless integration and rapid deployment across our cloud environment.
Key responsibilities
- Define a microservices reference architecture for Orbit Nexus using Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI with automated testing, containerization, and Helm chart deployments.
- Orchestrate Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, establishing service mesh policies with Istio.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to embed automated security scans and performance benchmarks into the release flow.
- Document architecture diagrams, API contracts, and deployment runbooks for cross‑team consumption.
- Guide a sprint‑based rollout plan, delivering incremental releases every two weeks.
Must-have skills
- Deep expertise in microservices design patterns and REST API development.
- Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for container orchestration.
- Strong Java development background, preferably with Spring ecosystem.
- Hands‑on experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, fault‑tolerant architectures.
Nice to have
- Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
- Familiarity with AWS native services (EKS, CloudWatch, IAM).
