Senior PostgreSQL Administrator Needed for Backup & Recovery Overhaul

About the role

CoreData Systems is embarking on a performance and reliability overhaul of its customer‑facing services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator who can fine‑tune databases, streamline queries, and ensure high availability under load.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current PostgreSQL workloads and identify bottlenecks
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and query‑plan optimizations
• Configure replication, failover, and backup strategies for zero‑downtime
• Collaborate with developers to refactor data‑intensive code paths
• Monitor performance metrics and set alert thresholds

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production
• Deep knowledge of query optimization, vacuuming, and tuning parameters
• Experience with high‑availability architectures (streaming replication, Patroni, etc.)
• Proficiency in Linux shell scripting for automation

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB or MySQL ecosystems
• Exposure to cloud‑hosted PostgreSQL services (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL)
• Understanding of containerization tools like Docker
