Senior REST API Developer for Partner API Handshake

About the role

Orbit Labs is launching a greenfield SaaS product and needs a seasoned REST API Developer to design and ship the core backend services. You will work with a remote-first team, shaping architecture from scratch and delivering production‑ready endpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and document high‑performance RESTful APIs using NodeJS
• Model and query data in PostgreSQL, ensuring scalability and security
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams to define contract specifications
• Write automated tests and set up CI pipelines for continuous delivery
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize API performance in production

Must-have skills

• 5+ years building REST APIs with NodeJS
• Strong JavaScript proficiency and async programming patterns
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL schema design and query optimization
• Understanding of authentication, rate limiting, and API versioning

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration
• Familiarity with GraphQL gateways as complementary services
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) for deployment
