About the role

Cascade Apps is overhauling a legacy production platform and needs a Database Administrator to ensure zero‑downtime migration. You will design, implement, and validate data‑layer changes while keeping the live system fully operational.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current schema, indexes, and replication setup for modernization.
• Plan and execute zero‑downtime migration strategies across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.
• Automate backup, restore, and failover processes using scripting and orchestration tools.
• Collaborate with developers to refactor data access patterns for performance.
• Monitor and tune database performance during and after migration.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production.
• Proven experience with zero‑downtime migration techniques.
• Strong SQL scripting and query optimization abilities.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native database services and containerization.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform or Ansible for infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for database changes.
• Background in legacy system refactoring.
