About the role

Cascade Apps is undertaking a performance and reliability overhaul of its customer‑facing services. We need a Microservices Architect to design, refactor, and optimize the core service mesh, ensuring low latency and high availability under peak load.

Key responsibilities

• Audit existing microservice interactions and identify bottlenecks
• Redesign service contracts for resilience and versioning
• Implement circuit‑breaker patterns and graceful degradation
• Containerize new components with Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes
• Define monitoring, tracing, and alerting standards for end‑to‑end observability
• Collaborate with product owners to prioritize reliability targets

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise in microservice architecture and design
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production
• Strong Java development background
• Proven track record of performance tuning and reliability engineering

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Istio or Linkerd service meshes
• Experience with chaos engineering tools
• Knowledge of cloud‑native CI/CD pipelines
