About the role

Cascade Apps is modernizing its customer‑facing services to achieve sub‑second latency and 99.99% uptime. As a Platform Engineer you will lead the performance and reliability overhaul of the core "PulseCache" module, a high‑throughput caching layer that powers real‑time user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current PulseCache bottlenecks using Grafana, Prometheus, and AWS X‑Ray, then design remediation plans.
• Refactor Terraform IaC to provision auto‑scaling ECS clusters with spot instances for cost‑effective capacity.
• Implement blue‑green deployment pipelines in GitHub Actions, integrating canary analysis with Flagger.
• Containerize legacy services with Docker, migrate them to EKS, and enforce pod‑level security policies.
• Set up SLO‑driven alerting in PagerDuty and conduct post‑mortem reviews for any incidents.
• Document performance benchmarks and handover guides for the internal DevOps guild.

Must-have skills

• Deep experience with AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda) and Terraform.
• Strong command of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm chart management.
• Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Expertise in observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki.
• Solid understanding of performance tuning, caching strategies, and SLO/SLI frameworks.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Experience with chaos engineering tools like Gremlin.
