About the role
Cascade Apps is modernizing its legacy transaction processing platform, codenamed "Nebula Core", to achieve zero‑downtime deployments. As a Platform Engineer you will drive the migration of monolithic services to a cloud‑native, containerized architecture while maintaining uninterrupted service for thousands of daily users.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement a blue‑green deployment pipeline in AWS using CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and Terraform for the Nebula Core rewrite.
- Migrate legacy services to Docker containers and orchestrate them with Kubernetes (EKS), ensuring health‑checks and auto‑scaling meet SLA requirements.
- Set up observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch) to monitor latency and detect anomalies during cut‑over.
- Create IaC modules for networking, IAM, and secret management to support zero‑downtime rollouts.
- Collaborate with the QA team to automate canary testing and rollback procedures using Argo Rollouts.
- Document runbooks and hand‑off procedures for on‑call engineers before the final production switch.
Must-have skills
- Extensive experience with AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, CloudFormation/Terraform).
- Deep knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines for zero‑downtime releases.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash/Python for automation.
- Understanding of networking, security, and monitoring in cloud environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
- Familiarity with chaos engineering tools for resilience testing.
