About the role
Northbay Systems is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay live 24/7. We need an Android Developer to redesign key modules, improve performance, and ensure zero‑downtime deployments while integrating modern libraries and CI pipelines.
Key responsibilities
- Refactor legacy codebases to Kotlin and adopt MVVM architecture
- Implement feature flags and blue‑green releases for uninterrupted updates
- Collaborate with backend engineers to align API contracts and data flow
- Write unit, integration, and UI tests to maintain high reliability
- Monitor app health in production and troubleshoot live issues quickly
Must-have skills
- 5+ years Android development experience
- Strong Kotlin and Java proficiency
- Deep understanding of Android lifecycle, Jetpack components, and performance optimization
- Experience with zero‑downtime deployment strategies
- Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote setting
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Compose UI
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Bitrise or GitHub Actions
- Knowledge of cloud services (Firebase, AWS) for mobile backends
