About the role

BlueSky Ventures is launching a data pipeline that powers real‑time analytics for its operations teams. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator who can design, tune, and maintain the core database layer while ensuring seamless data flow to downstream analytics tools.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement high‑availability PostgreSQL clusters for pipeline ingestion.
• Optimize queries and indexes to support fast analytical workloads.
• Develop automated backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with data engineers to integrate PostgreSQL with ETL processes.
• Monitor performance metrics and proactively resolve bottlenecks.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Strong SQL performance tuning and schema design expertise.
• Experience with replication, sharding, and partitioning strategies.
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB or MySQL for hybrid data solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native database services (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL).
• Understanding of data‑pipeline tools such as Airflow or dbt.
