About the role

Summit Digital is driving a high‑velocity CI/CD and platform automation sprint to shrink release cycles. As a Microservices Architect you will design the backbone for the new "Velocity Hub" module, ensuring seamless integration, observability, and rapid deployment across our cloud stack.

Key responsibilities

• Define the microservice decomposition strategy for Velocity Hub, aligning with domain‑driven design principles.
• Implement end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI, incorporating automated unit, contract, and performance tests.
• Containerize services with Docker and orchestrate them on Kubernetes, establishing Helm charts and custom operators.
• Set up service mesh (Istio) for traffic management, mutual TLS, and observability dashboards in Grafana.
• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate ArgoCD for progressive delivery and blue‑green deployments.
• Document API contracts using OpenAPI and enforce versioning policies across the platform.

Must-have skills

• Deep experience designing and scaling microservice architectures on AWS or GCP.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and service mesh technologies.
• Strong Java development background and RESTful API design expertise.
• Hands‑on knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Ability to mentor teams on best practices for automated testing and monitoring.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with serverless functions (AWS Lambda) for edge processing.
• Experience with chaos engineering tools such as Gremlin.
