About the role

LumenWorks seeks a Part-time Python Backend Developer to lead the modernization of a legacy production platform. The project demands zero‑downtime migrations while refactoring core services for scalability and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new Django services to replace legacy code
• Build robust REST APIs with comprehensive testing
• Coordinate blue‑green deployments to ensure zero‑downtime
• Optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries for performance
• Document migration steps and knowledge transfer for the ops team

Must-have skills

• Strong Python proficiency with Django framework
• Experience building and securing RESTful APIs
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL performance tuning
• Proven track record of zero‑downtime releases

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
