About the role

Orbit Labs is modernizing its customer‑facing services to achieve rock‑solid performance and reliability. We need a Database Administrator who can lead the overhaul, tune critical queries, and design resilient data pipelines that scale under load.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and optimize existing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL schemas for latency reduction.
• Implement automated backup, failover, and monitoring solutions.
• Collaborate with developers to refactor data access patterns and index strategies.
• Design and execute load‑testing scenarios to validate performance targets.
• Document best practices and hand over knowledge to the internal ops team.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production.
• Deep expertise in query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and automated recovery processes.
• Strong scripting abilities (Bash, Python) for routine maintenance.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud‑native databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure Cosmos DB).
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes) for database workloads.
