About the role

Harbor Softworks is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. We need a MongoDB Specialist to redesign data pipelines, improve schema design, and implement zero‑downtime migration strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing MongoDB collections and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Design sharding and indexing plans to support scaling without service interruption.
• Develop automated migration scripts using NodeJS and the MongoDB driver.
• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate change‑data‑capture for real‑time sync.
• Write comprehensive documentation and run post‑migration validation tests.

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise with MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/NodeJS for data tooling.
• Experience implementing zero‑downtime migrations in production.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes for containerized data services.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus or MongoDB Atlas alerts.
