Senior Node.js Developer for Service Layer Rewrite

About the role

Orbit Labs is revamping a legacy production platform to achieve zero‑downtime deployments. We need a Node.js Developer to lead the backend modernization, refactor critical services, and ensure seamless traffic switchover while maintaining existing functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new Node.js micro‑services to replace legacy modules
• Migrate existing REST endpoints to a scalable, versioned API layer
• Introduce automated testing and CI pipelines for zero‑downtime releases
• Collaborate with DevOps to configure blue‑green and canary deployments
• Document migration steps and provide knowledge transfer to the internal team

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with NodeJS and Express
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript ES6+ and asynchronous patterns
• Proven track record building and maintaining REST APIs
• Understanding of zero‑downtime deployment strategies

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or container orchestration
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Background in legacy system refactoring
