About the role

Orbit Labs is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator to lead the database migration, tuning, and high‑availability setup while guaranteeing zero‑downtime for end users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a zero‑downtime migration strategy from the legacy PostgreSQL cluster to a modern, scalable architecture.
• Configure streaming replication, failover, and backup solutions to meet SLA requirements.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and configuration parameters for performance under peak load.
• Automate routine maintenance tasks using scripts or orchestration tools.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of replication, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Experience with zero‑downtime migration techniques.
• Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and automation tools.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to monitoring stacks like Prometheus/Grafana.
• Understanding of cloud‑native PostgreSQL services.
