Senior PostgreSQL Administrator Needed for Database Migration Overhaul

About the role

BlueSky Ventures is launching a performance and reliability overhaul of its customer‑facing services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator who can redesign indexing, tune queries, and implement robust monitoring to ensure sub‑second response times under load.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current PostgreSQL workloads and identify bottlenecks
• Re‑architect schema and indexes for optimal read/write performance
• Implement automated health checks, alerting, and capacity planning
• Collaborate with application engineers to align database changes with service updates
• Document procedures and provide knowledge transfer to the internal team

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production environments
• Deep expertise in query optimization, partitioning, and replication
• Proficiency with Linux command line and scripting (Bash/Python)
• Experience integrating monitoring tools such as Prometheus or pgBadger

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB and MySQL ecosystems
• Background in cloud‑native deployments (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for database migrations
