About the role

CoreData Systems is launching a security hardening initiative for its suite of cloud‑hosted applications. As a Senior Database Administrator you will own the security posture of the newly created "AegisDB" module, ensuring data at rest and in transit meets strict compliance standards. You will collaborate with cloud architects to embed encryption, auditing, and access controls directly into the database layer.

Key responsibilities

  • Configure and fine‑tune IAM roles and service accounts in AWS RDS and Azure Database for MySQL to enforce least‑privilege access.
  • Design and execute automated vulnerability scans using tools like Nessus and DB‑Audit, documenting remediation steps.
  • Set up real‑time audit logging to CloudWatch and Azure Monitor, creating alert thresholds for suspicious queries.
  • Develop a migration plan to shift legacy on‑prem MongoDB instances to a hardened Atlas environment within the two‑month window.
  • Produce a security hardening checklist and hand‑off documentation for the operations team.

Must-have skills

  • Deep experience securing PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with encryption technologies, IAM, and audit logging.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash/Python for automation of security checks.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS RDS, Azure Database services, and MongoDB Atlas.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks such as PCI‑DSS and GDPR.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with containerized database deployments using Docker or Kubernetes.
