Senior Database Administrator Needed for Customer-Facing Query Plan Overhaul

About the role

NexGen Media is kicking off a greenfield SaaS product for a remote‑first team. We need a Database Administrator to design, implement, and tune the data layer from scratch, ensuring high availability and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Architect the initial schema for PostgreSQL, MongoDB and MySQL clusters
• Set up automated backups, replication, and disaster‑recovery procedures
• Implement performance monitoring, indexing strategies, and query optimization
• Collaborate with developers to define data models and access patterns
• Document standards, runbooks, and security controls

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB and MySQL in production
• Deep understanding of replication, sharding, and high‑availability architectures
• Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning expertise

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database migrations
• Knowledge of data security compliance (GDPR, SOC2)
