Senior Node.js Developer Needed for Legacy System Migration Delivery

About the role

Northbay Systems is revamping a legacy production platform that must stay live while we modernize its core. We need a Node.js Developer who can design and implement zero‑downtime migration patterns, refactor critical services, and introduce automated testing to ensure stability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build new Node.js micro‑services to replace legacy components
• Implement blue‑green and canary deployment strategies for zero‑downtime releases
• Refactor existing codebase to use modern JavaScript (ES2022) and async patterns
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for all new endpoints
• Collaborate with DevOps to configure CI/CD pipelines and monitoring
• Document migration steps and rollback procedures

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with Node.js and Express
• Deep understanding of REST API design and versioning
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Hands‑on experience with zero‑downtime deployment techniques
• Ability to write automated tests using Jest or Mocha

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of performance profiling and tuning
