Senior PostgreSQL Administrator Needed for High Availability Setup

About the role

BlueSky Ventures is launching a greenfield SaaS product and needs a PostgreSQL Administrator to design, implement, and fine‑tune the core data layer. You will work with a remote‑first team, shaping database architecture from scratch and ensuring high availability for a fast‑growing user base.

Key responsibilities

• Design and provision PostgreSQL clusters on cloud infrastructure
• Develop automated backup, recovery, and scaling procedures
• Optimize queries, indexes, and partitioning for performance
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and security hardening
• Collaborate with developers to define data models and migration strategies

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production environments
• Strong SQL tuning and schema design expertise
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and IaC tools
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation

Nice to have

• Knowledge of MongoDB and MySQL for hybrid data solutions
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Background in CI/CD pipelines for database changes
