About the role

Northbay Systems is modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay live 24/7. We need an Android Developer to redesign core app modules, introduce Kotlin‑based architecture, and ensure zero‑downtime deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate existing Java codebase to clean Kotlin modules
• Implement feature flags and canary releases for uninterrupted updates
• Refactor networking layer to use modern coroutines and Retrofit
• Write unit and UI tests to guarantee stability during rollout
• Collaborate with DevOps to automate CI/CD pipelines for Android builds

Must-have skills

• 5+ years Android development experience
• Strong Kotlin and Java proficiency
• Deep understanding of Android architecture components
• Experience with zero‑downtime release strategies

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Jetpack Compose
• Knowledge of Gradle performance tuning
• Background in legacy system modernization projects
