About the role

BlueSky Ventures seeks a senior Database Administrator to lead the migration and optimization of critical data assets for a high‑growth fintech platform. You will design, implement, and fine‑tune database solutions that ensure reliability, performance, and security across multiple environments.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute migration of legacy databases to modern PostgreSQL and MySQL clusters.
• Design and maintain replication, backup, and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and configurations for peak performance.
• Monitor health metrics and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Collaborate with developers to enforce data modeling best practices.
• Document architecture, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Must-have skills

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL administration.
• Strong command of Linux system administration.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
• Proven ability to design backup, recovery, and replication solutions.
• Solid understanding of security best practices for databases.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB for hybrid data workloads.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) for database deployment.
