Senior MongoDB Specialist for Scalable Schema Modernization

About the role

We are modernizing a legacy production platform that must stay online 24/7. As a MongoDB Specialist you will design schema upgrades, implement zero‑downtime migrations, and tune performance for high‑throughput workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current MongoDB deployment and document bottlenecks
• Plan and execute rolling schema changes with no service interruption
• Implement sharding, indexing, and aggregation pipelines for scalability
• Automate backup, restore, and monitoring using scripting and CI pipelines
• Collaborate with dev teams to integrate MongoDB best practices into new code

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with MongoDB design, performance tuning, and migrations
• Proficiency in JavaScript, NodeJS, and related ecosystem
• Understanding of replica sets, sharding, and zero‑downtime deployment patterns
• Ability to write clear documentation and run automated tests

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes for database containers
• Familiarity with cloud‑hosted MongoDB services (Atlas, etc.)
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools for database change management
