About the role

LumenWorks is modernizing its customer‑facing services to deliver faster, more reliable experiences on Android. As an Android Developer you will lead the performance and reliability overhaul of the flagship "PulseSync" module, ensuring smooth operation under heavy load.

Key responsibilities

• Profile and benchmark the existing PulseSync codebase using Android Studio Profiler and LeakCanary.
• Refactor networking layers to adopt Retrofit with OkHttp connection pooling and implement exponential back‑off.
• Introduce Jetpack Compose components to replace legacy XML layouts, reducing UI thread work.
• Write automated performance tests with Firebase Test Lab and integrate results into CI pipelines.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to optimise API payloads and enable HTTP/2 where possible.
• Deliver a final performance report showing at least 30% latency reduction and 20% crash‑rate decrease.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with Android SDK, Kotlin and Java.
• Deep understanding of memory management, threading, and profiling tools.
• Proficiency in REST API integration, Retrofit, and OkHttp.
• Hands‑on with Jetpack libraries, especially Compose and Room.
• Experience setting up CI/CD for Android apps using GitHub Actions or Bitrise.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Flutter or cross‑platform performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring.
