Database Administrator Needed for Database Migration Workstream

About the role

Harbor Softworks is kicking off a greenfield SaaS product and needs a Database Administrator to design, implement, and tune the data layer from day one. You will work with a remote‑first team, shaping schemas, migration strategies, and performance standards for a scalable launch.

Key responsibilities

• Architect relational and NoSQL schemas aligned with product features
• Set up automated backups, replication, and disaster‑recovery plans
• Write migration scripts and manage version control for database changes
• Monitor performance, conduct indexing and query optimization
• Collaborate with developers to define data access patterns and APIs

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL
• Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and query optimization
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments
• Understanding of security best practices for data at rest and in transit

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud‑native databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB)
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker
• Background in building data models for SaaS applications
