About the role

Orbit Labs is building a next‑generation analytics platform and needs a GraphQL API Developer to lead a test‑automation uplift. The focus is to reduce regression risk before the upcoming launch of the new "Orbit Insight" module, ensuring the GraphQL layer remains stable as features ship.

Key responsibilities

• Design and extend the GraphQL schema for the Orbit Insight module, incorporating pagination, filtering, and real‑time subscriptions.
• Implement automated integration tests using Jest and Apollo Server testing utilities, targeting at least 80% coverage of critical queries and mutations.
• Set up a CI pipeline in GitHub Actions that runs GraphQL linting, schema validation, and the new test suite on every pull request.
• Collaborate with the QA team to convert existing manual regression cases into automated GraphQL tests using Cypress for end‑to‑end flows.
• Document test scenarios, expected responses, and performance benchmarks in Confluence.
• Monitor test results, triage flaky tests, and provide weekly status reports to the product owner.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience building and maintaining GraphQL APIs with NodeJS.
• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and REST API concepts.
• Hands‑on knowledge of test frameworks such as Jest, Apollo Server testing, and Cypress.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, especially GitHub Actions or similar.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing tools like k6 or Artillery.
• Background in microservices architecture and Docker containerization.
