About the role

Cascade Apps is launching a brand‑new SaaS platform called "Nimbus Hub" to streamline real‑time data pipelines for distributed teams. As the Microservices Architect, you will define the core service mesh and guide the team through the first phase of this greenfield product launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design a domain‑driven microservice architecture using Java Spring Boot and gRPC for inter‑service communication.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions to automatically build, test, and deploy Docker images to a Kubernetes cluster on AWS EKS.
• Implement API gateway routing, request throttling, and JWT‑based authentication with Kong.
• Create a shared library for cross‑service logging, tracing (OpenTelemetry) and metrics (Prometheus/Grafana) and enforce it across all services.
• Lead the migration of legacy monolith components into independent containers, delivering the first three services within the initial 8‑week sprint.
• Conduct architecture reviews, performance load testing, and provide documentation for the "Nimbus Hub" service catalog.

Must-have skills

• Deep experience designing and deploying microservices at scale.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts.
• Strong Java (Spring Boot) development background.
• Expertise in RESTful API design and gRPC.
• Hands‑on knowledge of CI/CD tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with event‑driven architectures using Kafka.
• Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools.
