About the role

Summit Digital is revamping a critical legacy production platform with a zero‑downtime mandate. We need a Python Backend Developer to redesign core services, improve scalability, and ensure seamless migration. The work will focus on refactoring existing code, introducing modern architectural patterns, and delivering robust APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze the current monolith and extract high‑value components into micro‑services.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs using Django and async patterns.
• Optimize database interactions and schema migrations on PostgreSQL.
• Set up automated testing and CI pipelines to guarantee zero‑downtime releases.
• Collaborate with DevOps to orchestrate blue‑green deployments.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years Python development, deep Django expertise.
• Proven experience building high‑throughput REST APIs.
• Strong PostgreSQL design and performance tuning skills.
• Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD tools.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of async frameworks like FastAPI or Starlette.
• Experience with Kafka or other message brokers.
• Background in legacy system migration projects.
