Python Backend Developer for End-to-End Queue Worker Setup

About the role

Orbit Labs is revamping a legacy production platform with zero‑downtime goals. We need a Python Backend Developer to redesign core services, improve scalability, and ensure seamless migration.

Key responsibilities

• Refactor existing Python codebases into clean, modular Django applications
• Design and implement high‑throughput REST APIs backed by PostgreSQL
• Develop migration scripts that move data without service interruption
• Set up automated testing and CI pipelines for rapid feedback
• Collaborate with DevOps to monitor performance and tune queries

Must-have skills

• Strong Python experience with Django framework
• Designing and optimizing RESTful services
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL schema design and query tuning
• Understanding of zero‑downtime deployment strategies

Nice to have

• Experience with async Python (e.g., FastAPI, asyncio)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
