About the role

Northbay Systems is launching a security hardening initiative for its suite of cloud‑hosted applications. As a Senior Data Scientist you will lead the analytics effort behind the Aegis Guard module, turning security telemetry into actionable risk models that protect our clients' data in real time.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement anomaly‑detection pipelines using PySpark and AWS SageMaker to flag suspicious API usage.
• Develop Bayesian risk scoring models that integrate CloudTrail logs, VPC flow data, and user behavior metrics.
• Collaborate with the DevSecOps team to embed model inference as a serverless Lambda function within the CI/CD pipeline.
• Produce monthly security analytics dashboards in Tableau that visualize threat trends across regions.
• Validate model performance against red‑team exercise data and iterate to achieve >95% precision.
• Document model governance, data lineage, and compliance artifacts for ISO‑27001 audits.

Must-have skills

• Advanced Python for statistical modeling and ML pipelines.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL for feature store design.
• Proficiency in JavaScript for custom visualization widgets.
• Building and consuming REST APIs for model serving.
• Hands‑on knowledge of cloud security logs and IAM data.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GCP security services.
• Experience with graph‑based fraud detection techniques.
