About the role

We are launching a greenfield SaaS product and need a Database Administrator to design, provision, and tune the data layer from scratch. This project‑based engagement will shape the core storage architecture for a remote‑first team.

Key responsibilities

• Architect a scalable, secure schema across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL
• Implement automated provisioning, backup, and disaster‑recovery pipelines
• Monitor performance, capacity, and cost, applying indexing and query optimizations
• Collaborate with developers to define data models and API contracts
• Document standards, runbooks, and compliance checkpoints

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in cloud environments
• Deep knowledge of replication, sharding, and high‑availability setups
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) for DB provisioning
• Strong SQL tuning, query profiling, and schema migration expertise

Nice to have

• Familiarity with container‑native databases (e.g., Amazon Aurora)
• Exposure to security frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
