Senior MongoDB Specialist for Database Migration Delivery

About the role

NexGen Media is revamping the performance and reliability of its customer‑facing services. We need a MongoDB Specialist to lead data‑layer improvements, ensuring low latency and high availability across our stack.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze current MongoDB deployments and identify bottlenecks
• Design and implement sharding, indexing, and replication strategies
• Write migration scripts to move legacy data to optimized schemas
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate performance best practices
• Set up monitoring and alerting for database health

Must-have skills

• Deep experience with MongoDB performance tuning and scaling
• Strong command of JavaScript, NodeJS, and related ecosystem
• Proficiency in designing indexes and aggregation pipelines
• Ability to troubleshoot replication lag and write‑concern issues

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes for containerized DB services
• Experience with cloud‑native MongoDB (Atlas, Cosmos DB)
• Knowledge of security hardening and backup strategies
