Senior Node.js Developer Needed for Payment System Integration

About the role

Northbay Systems is undertaking a performance and reliability overhaul of its customer‑facing services. We need a seasoned Node.js Developer to redesign critical backend components, improve latency, and ensure high availability under load.

Key responsibilities

• Refactor existing Node.js services for optimal throughput and low error rates
• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms
• Design and expose scalable REST APIs adhering to best practices
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps to automate performance testing and CI pipelines
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers on performance‑focused coding standards

Must-have skills

• 5+ years of professional Node.js development
• Deep expertise with Express and asynchronous programming
• Proven track record improving latency and reliability of high‑traffic services
• Strong understanding of REST API design, security, and versioning
• Experience with performance profiling tools and load testing

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached)
• Background in cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
