About the role

Northbay Systems is launching a security hardening initiative for its cloud‑hosted applications. We need a seasoned PostgreSQL Administrator to tighten database configurations, enforce encryption, and audit access controls across multiple environments.

Key responsibilities

• Review and remediate PostgreSQL security settings, including SSL, authentication methods, and role privileges.
• Implement automated compliance checks and monitoring using native tools and third‑party solutions.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers to align database hardening with overall infrastructure security policies.
• Conduct performance testing after security changes to ensure no impact on critical workloads.
• Document hardened configurations and provide knowledge transfer to the internal ops team.

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production, preferably on AWS RDS or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Deep understanding of encryption at rest, TLS, role‑based access, and audit logging.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for database provisioning.
• Strong scripting ability in Bash or Python for automation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MongoDB or MySQL security practices.
• Certification such as AWS Security Specialty or PostgreSQL Certified Professional.
