Senior REST API Developer – Backend Scalability

About the role

Orbit Labs is launching a security hardening initiative for its cloud‑hosted applications. We need a REST API Developer to design, audit, and reinforce API endpoints against emerging threats while maintaining performance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and refactor existing NodeJS services for security best practices
• Implement authentication, authorization, and rate‑limiting mechanisms
• Conduct threat modeling and penetration testing of API surfaces
• Write automated tests and integrate them into CI pipelines
• Document security controls and provide knowledge transfer to the team

Must-have skills

• Strong experience building secure REST APIs with NodeJS
• Deep understanding of OWASP API Security Top 10
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL schema design and query hardening
• Solid JavaScript fundamentals and async programming

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud IAM services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with API gateways and WAF configurations
• Knowledge of container security (Docker, Kubernetes)
