Backend Developer – API Design

About the role

NexGen Media is expanding its digital platform and needs a skilled Backend Developer to build robust services for a new content delivery feature. You will work closely with product and front‑end teams to translate requirements into scalable server‑side solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs using NodeJS.
• Develop and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries.
• Integrate third‑party services and ensure secure data exchange.
• Write unit and integration tests to maintain code quality.
• Collaborate on code reviews and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot production issues.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with NodeJS and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database design and optimization.
• Solid understanding of REST API principles and security.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and Agile workflows.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker or container orchestration.
• Knowledge of message queue systems such as RabbitMQ.
