About the role

Cascade Apps is revamping the performance and reliability of its customer‑facing services. We need a Database Administrator who can design, tune, and monitor our data layer to meet strict SLAs while working part‑time.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize queries across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB clusters
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and sharding strategies for high‑traffic workloads
• Set up automated health checks, alerts, and performance dashboards
• Collaborate with developers to refactor data‑intensive code paths
• Document best‑practice configurations and recovery procedures

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB in production
• Deep experience with performance tuning, replication, and backup strategies
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python) for automation
• Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis abilities

Nice to have

• Exposure to cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB)
• Familiarity with containerized database deployments
• Knowledge of security hardening and compliance standards
