About the role

Cascade Apps is launching a brand‑new SaaS platform aimed at simplifying workflow automation for distributed teams. As the GraphQL API Developer, you will architect and deliver the core data‑layer for the "Nimbus Engine" module, a greenfield product that will power real‑time collaboration features. This short‑term engagement focuses on building a production‑ready GraphQL service from scratch.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a GraphQL schema for the Nimbus Engine using Apollo Server on Node.js.
• Integrate with existing REST micro‑services, translating endpoints into GraphQL resolvers.
• Set up automated testing with Jest and GraphQL Playground for contract validation.
• Configure CI pipelines in GitHub Actions to run linting, unit tests, and schema lint checks on every push.
• Document the API contract and usage guidelines in Swagger‑compatible markdown.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers to fine‑tune query performance and implement pagination.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience building GraphQL APIs with Apollo Server.
• Proficient in NodeJS and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Hands‑on with REST API integration and authentication (OAuth2/JWT).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, especially GitHub Actions.
• Ability to write comprehensive unit and integration tests.

Nice to have

• Experience with serverless deployments (AWS Lambda or Vercel).
• Knowledge of TypeScript for type‑safe schema definitions.
