About the role

Cascade Apps is revamping the performance and reliability of its customer‑facing services. We need a PostgreSQL Administrator to lead the database side of this effort, ensuring fast queries, high availability, and smooth scaling.

Key responsibilities

• Audit existing PostgreSQL clusters and identify bottlenecks
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and query‑tuning strategies
• Design and deploy replication and failover mechanisms
• Collaborate with developers to refactor queries for efficiency
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and capacity‑planning dashboards

Must-have skills

• 3+ years managing PostgreSQL in production
• Strong SQL performance‑tuning expertise
• Experience with replication, streaming, and backup solutions
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments

Nice to have

• Knowledge of MongoDB or MySQL for cross‑database insights
• Automation experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar
• Understanding of cloud‑native PostgreSQL services (e.g., AWS RDS)
