About the role

Cascade Apps is launching a brand‑new SaaS product and needs a Database Administrator to design, implement, and fine‑tune the data layer from day one. You will work with a remote‑first team, ensuring the databases are secure, performant, and scalable for rapid user growth.

Key responsibilities

• Architect the initial PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL schemas for the greenfield product
• Set up automated backups, replication, and disaster‑recovery procedures
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance‑tuning scripts
• Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and data models
• Document standards, procedures, and runbooks for the engineering team

Must-have skills

• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL in production
• Strong knowledge of indexing, sharding, and replication strategies
• Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure Database, etc.)
• Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Bash, Python)

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Background in security hardening and compliance (PCI, GDPR)
