About the role

BlueSky Ventures is modernizing a legacy production platform with a zero‑downtime mandate. We need a GraphQL API Developer – Zero‑downtime platform modernization to design and implement a new API layer that coexists with existing services.

Key responsibilities

• Design a GraphQL schema that mirrors current REST endpoints while enabling incremental rollout.
• Implement resolvers in NodeJS and integrate with existing data sources.
• Develop React hooks for front‑end consumption and ensure type‑safe contracts.
• Set up feature flags and blue‑green deployment pipelines to achieve zero‑downtime releases.
• Write comprehensive tests and documentation for the new API.

Must-have skills

• Deep experience with GraphQL server development.
• Proficiency in NodeJS and React integration.
• Strong understanding of REST API patterns and migration strategies.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote freelance setting.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools for zero‑downtime deployments.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration.
